Ayelet The Kosher Komic: From Hollywood To The Holy Land By Yocheved Golani
With a name like Ayelet bas Bina Penina, you just know that this rising Jewish starlet was born to be funny.
Before
starting her career as an actress in Hollywood, Ayelet grew up in Far
Rockaway, New York. She grew into her role as a Jewish woman by turning
her life around with the help of AISH HaTorah and Isralight "when I
came across shiurim on the Upper West Side, looking for a boyfriend."
She now resides in Jerusalem`s Old City, and still travels the
world for her comedy work.
Ayelet honed her dramatic skills on
such classic proving grounds for actors as the NY Comedy Club, The
Improv and The Comedy Store. She applies her re-engineered acting
talents and comedy skills in her new career of Kosher Komedy after
"escaping the Mitzrayim of Hollywood and New York." I`m a pioneer in
this field, opening doors for religious Jewish women to have an outlet
for laughter and fun in a kosher and enjoyable way. My goal is to bring
simcha, joy, to women who can`t get it from TV, theater and other
non-kosher sources," Ayelet explains enthusiastically.
Ayelet
appeared in Bet Shemesh on Wednesday, January 12th. The show was
prompted by Ayelet`s desire to provide "a great opportunity for
religious women to enjoy comedy. I perform Glatt Kosher Komedy, and
it`s for women only!"
Another of Ayelet`s all-women`s shows
sold out for an 8:00 p.m. performance January 20th, at the Little
Coffee House in Baka in Jerusalem. The kosher comedienne now begins her
world tour. Women in Toronto, Los Angeles, the East Coast and
elsewhere, will soon be chortling in appreciation of Ayelet`s rendition
of a stewardess` speech aboard the fantasy "Glatt Kosher Airline."
After Ayelet has everyone laughing out loud at the accommodations made
for religious passengers, she will bring down the house with her
rendition of "Shidduch Dates `N Mates," and have women crying with
laughter when she explains "The Trouble With Children."
Ayelet
is not only about getting laughs and audience appreciation. She is out
to share the accumulated wisdom of Judaism while poking fun at the
foibles of frumkeit. Her participation in AISH HaTorah`s JEWEL program
in Israel led to reflective time at the EYAHT seminary for women,
enabling her to become a personal coach for goal-setting Jews in
various walks of life. She is currently looking for her soulmate.
